Our story
Why I Started Affordable Home Solutions
I've been on roofs since 2017, and I started this company in 2021. We came up through storm restoration work, which is where the insurance side of what we do comes from. It's also where I learned what I didn't want to build.
In this market, the companies that knock on your door after a storm are usually the ones that won't spend a dollar on a brand, because their whole pitch is that your insurance is paying. I think insurance is a good way to pay for a roof. I don't think it's a reason to hire anybody. So we built the other kind of company: one that earns the job on the work, the warranty, and the options, and treats the claim as one of several ways to pay for it.
We're a family-owned company, and while I started this one in 2021, there's more than twenty years of construction experience between the people running it. That combination is the whole pitch: a company young enough to still answer its own phone, run by people who have already made every mistake there is to make on a roof.
What that means on your house is simple. We go in your attic before we quote your roof. You get a full report and both packages priced, in writing, the same day we inspect. And if the honest answer is that your roof has five more years in it, or that your claim isn't worth filing, that's the answer you'll get.

How we quote
What Happens at Your Kitchen Table?
You get two complete roofs to choose between, priced, in writing, in one sitting, and you get them the same day we inspect. One take-it-or-leave-it number isn't a choice, it's a price with an ultimatum attached. Even when insurance has already approved the claim you still see both, because the approved scope is a budget and not a decision about your house.
Standard
A complete TAMKO Heritage system
A full tear-off, the deck inspected and repaired, and every component a roof system needs. Not the cheap version of the roof, the shorter-warranty version of the same roof, and it is usually the one that lines up with what an insurance claim already approved.
Platinum
A matched TAMKO Titan XT system
Every component made by TAMKO and matched to the shingle, which is what qualifies the roof for a 160 mph wind warranty, 50 years of material coverage, and 25 years of workmanship coverage that TAMKO stands behind rather than us. It transfers with the house for 20 years.
Both of them start in your attic
We inspect the attic and measure what intake and exhaust the roof actually has before we price anything, because most manufacturer warranties are void if the ventilation is undersized. That's not an upsell. Where the numbers don't work we add the vents and soffit to fix it, and we show you why. More on how attic ventilation works and on what separates the two packages.
Payment structure is a separate conversation from which roof you want. See roof financing options.
What we are best at
We Overturn Denied Roof Claims, and Almost Nobody Here Does
In Texas, working a public adjuster is routine and every roofer knows how. In Virginia and Maryland it's not. There are only a handful of public adjusters in these two states who take roof claims at all, and most roofing companies here have no relationship with any of them. We work with one of the biggest, and we've got an appraisal process that we run on claims other people have already given up on.
So when we knock on a door and the homeowner tells us they've been denied three times, we're usually able to get it overturned and approved. Partial approvals are the same story: a carrier approves one slope and declines the rest, and we document the declined slopes and get the scope corrected so you're not left with half a new roof. If the approval still doesn't cover the whole job, we finance the difference.
None of that changes what I said above. Insurance is a way to pay for a roof. If your roof simply wore out, no carrier owes you a new one, and we'll tell you that instead of filing a claim that goes on your record and pays for nothing.
Credentials
Licensed in Both States, Certified by the Manufacturer
TAMKO Diamond is the one worth understanding. TAMKO is one of the six major shingle manufacturers, and it names Diamond contractors by invitation: we are one of three in Virginia and one of five in Maryland. That certification is what lets us back a qualifying system with up to a 50-year material warranty and a 25-year workmanship warranty. It's not a badge we bought.

Virginia requires every Class A contractor to designate a licensed qualified individual, so our Class A license is held through our designated license holder instead of in the company name. That's how the Commonwealth structures the license. Look up #2705084385 and it's us.

Big Enough That Someone Answers
We run over 30 salespeople and a full back office out of Falls Church, and that exists for one unglamorous reason: your call gets answered by a person. Roofing is a trade where the most common complaint isn't the workmanship, it's that nobody ever called back. Our office phones are staffed Monday through Friday and our crews run Monday through Saturday.
The size shows up in the schedule too. Most roofs go on in 3 to 5 days from contract to final walkthrough, one-day installs are available on qualifying homes, and we tarp the same night when water is actually coming in, because stopping the water is a different job from fixing the roof and it shouldn't wait on an estimate.

Work We Turn Down
A contractor who says yes to everything is telling you he needs the work more than he knows the work. Three things we say no to, so you find out here instead of on the phone.
- Flat residential roofs
- Almost always a row house with several layers already on it. It's not the work we're set up to do well, so we don't take it. Flat commercial is different, and we do that.
- Washington, DC proper and Baltimore City
- We work the suburbs on both sides of the Potomac. That's where our crews are, and it's where we can hold a schedule.
- Gutter repair
- We install gutters and leaf protection, usually alongside a roof. Repairing somebody else's run is a different trade and we'll say so.
Where we work
Both Sides of the Potomac, One Crew
We hold licenses in Virginia and Maryland, which is what lets us run the whole DMV out of one Falls Church office instead of one side of the river. Same inspection, same warranty, same crews, whichever county you're in.
- Fairfax County, VA
- Loudoun County, VA
- Prince William County, VA
- Montgomery County, MD
- Prince George's County, MD
Our people, in their words
Homeowners Remember Who Showed Up
In our Google reviews, homeowners name the person. Brock, Kevin, Rama, Ross, Lukas. That's not something a company can ask for.
We had our roof replaced last month by AHS and the process was great. Kevin Diaz came out and did a great job with the initial roof inspection and walk through of the process. Rama did a fantastic job with explaining the options and costs and getting everything setup and then keeping on top of everything. The crew was friendly and professional and did an excellent job with the install and the cleanup. Finally, Lukas Turner was great with the post install inspection and walkaround.
Just completed the final process for a new roof constructed by AHS. I was thoroughly impressed with AHS’s personnel specifically Brock Doctson. He took us through the entire process from talking to the insurance company to physically coming to the house for payment when needed. He explained the entire process in great detail and was very attentive in following up and answering any questions. AHS should be very proud of his work ethic. Will recommend this company to anyone.
We just got our roof repaired with Affordable Home Solutions and we love our new roof. Ross came to our house to look at our roof and immediately told us to get in contact with our insurance while he was there. Throughout the process he was always checking in about the status and was patient with us as well. We had a leak one night and I let him know, next day he was covering the roof with a tarp where the leak was coming from.
