We just got our roof repaired with Affordable Home Solutions and we love our new roof. Ross came to our house to look at our roof and immediately told us to get in contact with our insurance while he was there. Throughout the process he was always checking in about the status and was patient with us as well. We had a leak one night and I let him know, next day he was covering the roof with a tarp where the leak was coming from.

We had our roof replaced last month by AHS and the process was great. Kevin Diaz came out and did a great job with the initial roof inspection and walk through of the process. Rama did a fantastic job with explaining the options and costs and getting everything setup and then keeping on top of everything. The crew was friendly and professional and did an excellent job with the install and the cleanup. Finally, Lukas Turner was great with the post install inspection and walkaround.

Just completed the final process for a new roof constructed by AHS. I was thoroughly impressed with AHS’s personnel specifically Brock Doctson. He took us through the entire process from talking to the insurance company to physically coming to the house for payment when needed. He explained the entire process in great detail and was very attentive in following up and answering any questions. AHS should be very proud of his work ethic. Will recommend this company to anyone.
The process
How a Storm Damage Claim Works
Six steps, and the first one happens before anyone talks about money. Most of what goes wrong with a storm claim goes wrong in the first week, either because the damage was documented badly or because the homeowner filed before anyone had been on the roof.
Stop the water
Same-night tarping in most cases. This happens before any inspection, estimate, or claim, because water in the house is a separate emergency from the roof that let it in.
Inspect and document
We photograph every slope, measure the damage, and pull the weather data for the date of the storm. That evidence package is what a claim lives or dies on, and it's assembled before you file, not after you're denied.
Tell you whether you have a claim
If the damage is storm-caused, we say so and you file. If it's age or wear, we say that too, and you don't open a claim that gets denied and sits on your record for nothing.
Meet your adjuster on the roof
We walk the roof with your carrier's adjuster so damage is identified in person rather than disputed by email later. This is the hour that decides the scope.
Handle partials and denials
A declined slope or a denied claim gets re-documented and appealed with photographs, storm data, and an itemized scope. We work with public adjusters and appraisers in both states when the scope stays disputed.
Repair or replace
We build back the approved scope, and you pay your deductible and nothing more. If the damage warrants a full replacement, the roof goes on under the same warranties as any other job we do.
What you pay
What Does Storm Damage Repair Cost Out of Pocket?
Your deductible. When a claim is approved, your carrier pays the approved scope and you pay the deductible you agreed to when you bought the policy. That's the whole number, and it doesn't change based on how big the roof turns out to be.
If there is no claim
Damage from age or wear isn't a covered loss, and we'll tell you when that's what we find. Repairs then price like any other repair, and financing is available either way. See roof financing options.
Nobody can legally waive your deductible
If a contractor offers to absorb, waive, or rebate it, that is insurance fraud in both Virginia and Maryland. It puts your claim at risk, not just theirs. After a hail event you will hear the offer more than once. It is the clearest signal you have that you are talking to the wrong company.
Denied or partially approved already? That's the part we're best at. See how we handle roof insurance claims, including appeals and public adjusters. If the roof turns out to be past repair, the roof replacement page covers what a full system involves, and attic ventilation covers the part of a new roof an adjuster's scope never mentions.
Where we work
Storm Damage Repair Across the DMV
Licensed in both Virginia and Maryland out of our Falls Church office, which matters more after a storm than at any other time. Hail doesn't stop at the Potomac, and a contractor licensed on one side of it can only help you on one side of it.
Credentials
Licensed, Insured, and Manufacturer Certified
Storm work attracts out-of-state crews who follow hail, do the job, and are unreachable when the roof leaks two winters later. We've been in Falls Church since 2021, we're licensed in both states, and the license numbers below are checkable.

Questions
Storm Damage and Insurance Questions, Answered
What does hail damage on a roof actually look like?
Hail leaves round, dark bruises where granules have been knocked away, and the spot feels soft when pressed, like a dent in an apple. That's different from the straight scrapes and cracks left by branches, and different again from the curling and bald patches of ordinary wear. Most hail damage is invisible from the ground, which is why an adjuster walks the roof rather than looking from the driveway.
Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?
Call a roofer first and get the roof inspected before you file. Filing starts a claim on information you don't have yet, and a claim opened for damage that turns out to be wear can sit on your record without paying for anything. A free inspection tells you whether you have a claim worth filing.
How long do I have to file a storm damage claim?
Most carriers set a filing window measured in months from the date of the storm, and Virginia and Maryland policies commonly run one to two years. The practical deadline is shorter than the contractual one. Evidence degrades, later storms muddy which event caused what, and carriers get more skeptical the longer you wait. Find the date of the storm, then move.
What do I do if my roof claim was denied?
A denial isn't the end of the claim. It's a position your carrier has taken that you can contest with better evidence. We read the denial letter against your policy, re-document the roof, and file the appeal with photographs, weather data for that date, and an itemized scope. We overturn denied claims regularly, and it's the part of this work we're best at.
Why do insurance companies deny roof claims?
The most common reasons are that the adjuster attributed the damage to age or wear rather than the storm, that the damage was judged cosmetic, that the claim was filed outside the policy window, or that the documentation was too thin to support the scope. The first two are judgment calls, which is exactly why they can be contested. If a denial comes down to one adjuster's opinion about what caused a bruise, that's an opinion you can answer with evidence.
What if my insurance only approved part of the roof?
Partial approvals are common and often wrong. A carrier will approve one slope and decline the rest, which leaves you with mismatched shingles and a roof that's only partly new. We handle partial approvals by documenting the damage on the slopes that were declined and, where it applies, invoking matching provisions in your policy. Getting the scope corrected is usually a better outcome than accepting a supplement later.
Will filing a claim raise my rates?
Not automatically, and weather claims are treated differently from at-fault claims. Virginia law protects you from being non-renewed over a single claim caused by a natural event. Rates still reflect claims history, and carriers vary, so ask yours directly. What we can tell you is that living under a busted roof to keep your premium down usually costs you more than the premium ever would.
Do you meet the insurance adjuster at my house?
Yes, and it's one of the highest-value hours in the whole process. We walk the roof with your adjuster so the damage gets identified while they are standing on it, rather than argued about over email afterward. When the scope is disputed we also work with public adjusters and appraisers across Virginia and Maryland.
Can you tarp my roof tonight?
In most cases yes. We tarp the same night to stop water entering the house, and that's a separate job from repairing the roof. Stopping the water should never wait on an estimate, an adjuster, or a claim decision. If water is coming in right now, call instead of sending a message.
Who pays for the roof if the claim is approved?
Your carrier pays the approved scope minus your deductible, and you pay the deductible. Be careful with any contractor who offers to absorb, waive, or rebate your deductible. That is insurance fraud in both Virginia and Maryland, it puts your claim at risk, and a contractor willing to commit it on your behalf is telling you something about how they will handle the rest of the job.
Think You Have Storm Damage?
The inspection is free and it comes with a straight answer. If you have a claim, we'll document it properly before you file. If you don't, we'll tell you that instead of opening one that gets denied.
Crews Monday to Saturday. Office phones Monday to Friday.
